Organizing Your New Website
If your website is more than three years old, it is likely time for a redesign. Let us take a look at your site and offer you some ideas. Organization is the key to getting what you want out of a website. Here are a few suggestions to get started:
- Find a few other websites that you like, and what you like about them (i.e. colors, graphics, navigation, fonts).
- Consider which pages you would like to be in the navigation interface (examples: home, contact, about), and also consider any subpagesfor EACH page.
- Pick the primary colors you would like to see on the site. Note that some colors like dark blue, green, and purple are especially appealing to website viewers.
- Prepare any digital pictures that you have, as well as where you would like to see them (no more than one or two for each page).
- Select the 5 or 6 digital images that you would like to see on the homepage movie, along with any words that you might like to accompany the images. These should be representative of the message that you would like to convey with your website.
- Write content for each page. Keep it simple...too much text clutters a page and deters people from your site.
